Agartala, January 23, 2019: The tableau of Tripura on Republic Day in New Delhi showcases the egalitarian, inclusive and diverse social and ethnic culture linked to the Gandhian principles. The tableau in the front portion depicts the “CHARKHA” and bamboo. This has been inspired by the Gandhian concept of self sufficiency of the rural economy which supports the families livelihood economically. The portion after this showcases the scenic and natural beauty of Tripura Sundari temple, the water palace of Neer Mahal, the summer residence built by Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya. The dome shaped minars of the palace have attributed a fort like look to the mansion.
The portion after this shows the dance of the local tribe of the Tripuris. Being inspired by the Gandhian thoughts of empowerment of women who are celebrating their own festivals and enjoy the festivity of others too. Major festivals of Tripura have been acting as the bridge to fill the cultural gap whatsoever.
In this way these dances have lavishly contributed to the national cultural texture also thereby ensuring peaceful coexistence of all as per the Gandhian philosophy. The rear portion depicts the stone carved sculpture of Unakoti, the famous Saivite site which means one less than a crore. This archaeological wonder dates back to 70 century A.D.
