August 11, 2018: Union Minister for Electronics & Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad has released the ‘Digital North East Vision 2022’ in Guwahati today in presence of Chief Ministers and IT Ministers of North East including Tripura. The Vision Document emphasizes uses of digital technologies to transform lives of people of the north east and enhance the ease of living.
“There will be e-classroom facilities in the medical colleges of Shillong, Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Agartala and Imphal. We are making India a digital superpower,” Ravi Shankar said.
Along with Biplab Deb, Chief Ministers of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal and.Meghalaya Conrad Sangma and representatives of other NE States were also present.
Ravi Shankar Prasad also made various other big ticket announcements for North East Region during the Programme, These included doubling the number of seats under the BPO Scheme for North East Region from the existing 5,000 to 10,000.
Moreover, he also announced that the Digital Classrooms will be set up in six medical colleges in the North East Indian cities which shall also include Agartala.
Prasad also announced that 50,000 State Government Employees across North Eastern states shall be imparted digital training to bolster the efforts made by various State Governments in the region to attain the objective of Digital North East by 2022.
Among the initiatives launched, Digital Classrooms project which has been launched shall help in imparting quality education to the students of Tripura.

The landmark initiative of launching MyGov Tripura portal was also undertaken today. This portal shall provide a robust citizen engagement platform to the 37 lakh citizens of Tripura for engaging with the State Government in a more cohesive manner thereby ushering in good governance in the state of Tripura.
Another center of Software Technology Park of India (STPI) at Indranagar was launched today thereby providing yet another platform for IT entrepreneurs which shall immensely aid the development of IT sector in Tripura.
Biplab Deb also announced that it was a moment of immense pride that Tripura became the first state in North East India to have 100% state district administration websites as per the ‘SwaaS’ framework. This shall make these websites more citizen friendly and also enhance it’s safety, reach and accessibility. He appreciated the role played by District Administrations in ensuring this achievement.
