Agartala, January 18, 2019: Tripura Upajati Ganamukti Parishad (GMP) – a tribal wing of CPI-M today demanded re-employment of workers in second phase of JICA project in the State. The GMP leaders also took a swipe at Chief Minister Biplab Deb’s claim of transparent Governance.
President of Tripura Upajati Ganamukti Parishad and CPI-M MP, Jitendra Chowdhury today pointed fingers at the State Government and sought clarification as to how a responsible and transparent government appointed ten of their party persons in the civil secretariat.
“We have noticed our beloved Chief Minister saying that no one goes to him for job, even the state is growing as a self reliant one but I want him to clarify on what basis party cadres were appointed in the civil secretariat in the name of government jobs,” Chowdhury asked while addressing a press conference in Agartala today.
According to the recruitment policy, the seasoned leader said, the roster of posts has to be maintained otherwise the appointments become entirely against the law and this is something that should not be an act of a responsible government.
Speaking on the newly instated JICA project, the second of such venture, he said, the first project ended as a successful one because of the hard working people appointed earlier. It is unfortunate that those persons were not given priority in the second phase. He strongly demanded that employees worked in JICA-I should be re-employed.
“The former government promised to re-appoint all the 700 to 750 people if the second version takes charge, even the BJP promised to the sacked JICA workers that they would be given first preference. But they are still in the phase of uncertainty” he alleged and batted for a re-appointment drive for the terminated JICA employees.
The GMP president, in the line of Congress and other tribal-based parties, demanded an impartial investigation on the Madhabbari firing incident under a High Court sitting Judge. He expressed discontent over the magisterial inquiry that the state ordered.
“District Magistrate of West Tripura Sandeep Mahatme who is entrusted with the job of investigation is a person whom everyone acknowledges as a bureaucrat with saffron spoon. And there is no doubt in that if he submits an inquiry report it would be a report of BJP state head quarters” he claimed. He also demanded withdrawal of Citizenship Amendment Bill which is the root cause of all the mishap that took place at Madhabbari.
