Agartala, February 23, 2019: In an attempt to cut ‘out of pocket’ expenses for medical treatment, BJP-led Tripura Government has launched free diagnostic facility at IGM hospital in Agartala along with in six district hospitals and 12 sub-divisional hospital across the State. In a programme held at Agartala IGM, Health Minister Sudip Roy Barman inaugurated the services. Roy Barman announced, State Government is working hard to introduce super specialty medical treatment for cardiology etc during 2019.
“The State Government is committed to slash down medical expenses so that more people can avail the benefits of medical treatment without being financially ruined and availability of free diagnostic services for blood-stool-urine etc . Moreover, the State Government is thriving to promote ‘medical tourism’ in State with introduction of super specialty medical care facilities which will also immensely benefit people of the State”, Roy Barman said.
Referring to survey reports, Roy Barman said, patients have to spend around 40 per cent of total cost of treatment for diagnostic purposes. Moreover, due to lack of treatment facilities for cardio-vascular and various other ailments, people have to go to other states – resulting in huge outflow of money every year.
“This has to be stopped. Government is thriving to reduce the cost and making most of the treatment facilities available in the State”, Roy Barman asserted.
A reduction in treatment cost will strengthen economic power of people of the State as they will be able to spend the money for education and other such purposes, he argued. Free diagnostic services along with super specialty facilities will boost ‘medical tourism’ as people living in neighbouring districts in Bangladesh will feel comfortable to avail quality treatment in Tripura.
