Agartala, May 29, 2019: The High Court of Tripura today asked the state government to stop plying of converted motor-rickshaws on roads. Recently there is a spate of battery mounted paddle rickshaw in the State.
During hearing on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) that seeks directions to the state government to regulate the conversion of paddle rickshaws into motor-rickshaws, a Division Bench of Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Arindam Lodh directed the Municipal Commissioner of AMC, DM (West), SP (Traffic) and Transport department authorities to take steps forthwith to prevent plying of such manually driven rickshaws operated with a battery/motor installed therein.
