Tripura HC issues notice to poll panel, CEO

Agartala, May 17, 2019: The High Court of Tripura today issued notice to the Election Commission asking it to respond to the plea, filed by CPIM-led Left Front nominee Sankar Prasad Datta, that sought fresh elections to the West Tripura parliamentary seat, said Samarjit Bhattacharjee, counsel of the petitioner. A Single Bench of Justice Arindam Lodh passed the order.

Datta moved the High Court two days ago and filed a writ petition seeking fresh polls in the West Tripura Parliamentary seat.

Justice Lodh issued notice to the poll panel, Chief Electoral Officer and Returning Officer (West) to respond to the plea by May 21 next, added Bhattacharjee over telephone.
