September 03, 2018: The Health Minister Sudip Roy Barman has urged to ensure grand success of upcoming Measles and Rubella (MR) Immunization programme in Tripura. Traditionally, immunization programmes in the State remained successful. Owing to successful implementation of Universal Immunization programmes in the past, the State has a below the national average Infant Mortality rate (IMR). However the Health Department is taking extra care to reach all of the targeted beneficiaries.
The MR Immunization programme will be launched in the State from September 15, 2018. Under the programme, all the children of age groups between nine months to 15 years will be vaccinated.
The Health Minister Sudip Roy Barman has urged all the stack holders including guardians to come forward. He is also using social media to reach every section of the society and generate public awareness.
In a Facebook post today, Sudip Roy Barman wrote, “Let us join hands with our stars to make Tripura more healthier”. He urged, “Ensure that your child gets the MR vaccine at the right time and make Tripura Measles-Rubella free State”.
The Health Department has also launched campaign in social media as well as holding workshops to sensitize mainstream media personnel. A State level media workshop will be held on Tuesday in Agartala in which UNICEF and national media persons will focus upon media coverage of MR Vaccination drive.
