Agartala, Jun 06, 2019: In an obvious attempt to optimize women power at grass root level in Tripura through political and economic empowerment, BJP Mahila Morcha is set to launch fresh initiatives soon. BJP Mohila Morcha National President Vijaya Rahatkar said this today in Agartala.
Speaking to the media persons in Agartala, Vijaya Rahatkar talked about Mahila Morcha’s vision for women of the State and emphasized on Politico-economic empowerment of women. In this connection, she pointed out two-point strategy to be adopted by the Morcha. Firstly, Morcha will ensure political empowerment of women upto grass root level of the society and secondly, economic empowerment through entrepreneurial initiatives.
Eyeing on long-term goals, Mahila Morcha is set to improve women’s participation in Politics at booth level in the State. Explaining further, she said, Morcha will work on preparing 10 women volunteers in every booth. The move is considered to be politically significant initiative, veteran journos opined.
Rahatkar said, as part of economic empowerment, Self Help Groups would play crucial role. SHGs will bring out massive changes in the socio economic situation of women in society. This will also help to generate more and more awareness among the women participants of the campaign about entrepreneurship development and self-reliance.
Both the political and economic empowerment of women will ensure greater involvement of womenfolk in social activities and will help to shape own political and financial decisions, informed sources said.
