Agartala, July 14, 2019: Newly elected MP Pratima Bhowmik put emphasis on improving railway connectivity between places in North Eastern States as well as stressed on rail link between Tripura and Bangladesh. While connectivity is pre-requisite to development, Pratima Bhowmik is also focusing on tourism sector. In a candid interaction with local media in Agartala, Pratima Bhowmik spelt out her primary vision for ongoing Parliamentary session.
Elaborating on rail links, she talked about a meeting with Railway Minister Piyush Goyel recently held in New Delhi.
“I requested him to connect the main cities of the North Eastern states with railway connectivity, at least one express every day. I have also urged the Minister to speed up the process of connecting Tripura with Bangladesh through railways”, she said to media persons.
She further said, the Minister had told me that total Rs 968 crore has been allotted for the project of Bangladesh-Tripura railway connectivity. Railway links will be established through Akahura border, and a proposal has been sent for railway links through Belonia and Chattagram as it is going to be connected with Tripura through waterways soon, she told the media.
Speaking on the tourism, Pratima said, we are planning to put more emphasis on the unexplored tourist destinations of the state. In Sepahijala district, she continued, there is more than enough destination for tourist attraction. Starting from Sepahijala wildlife sanctuary and Neermahal, there are many places like Maikrasa para, Chandir, Botolbhanga Bhavanipur Panikata lake and Boxanagar having prospects for tourism. We are planning to form co-operatives and outsource tourism experts for upgradation of a tourism circuit in Sepahijala district, she added.
