Agartala, Mar 02, 2019: In his first appearance before media, the newly appointed Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee president Pradyot Kishor Debbarma took the bulls by horns and fired verbal salvo by raising ‘BJP-mukt North East’ slogan.
He also made it clear that he wants no conflict either in the party or among different communities living in the state.
“There should not be an inch of doubt about my stance. I want no conflict – neither in my own party nor among Bengali and Tribal communities of the state. What I want is a united effort from our people so that BJP could be ousted from the entire North East” he told the media persons at Congress Bhavan.
In his maiden press conference as TPCC president he also said, for a government to function in a pro-people manner, an active opposition party should be there and now Congress will fill this gap. On the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections he said, it is indeed a big examination for me and I believe the Congress will do good results in the elections. Soon monitoring committees will be formed and declared public for this purpose, he added.
When asked on Chief Minister’s report that he presented at the assembly on the Madhabbari incident, he claimed, the government has blamed the SDPO for the whole in a clear attempt of making scapegoat. And if this reports are true than why the Chief Minister and NC Devbarma declared the protesters as anti-social elements, he added urging for an apology.
He also clarified that no wing of the party will be dissolved till the elections. “There will be no change in the team. We will bring out a massive change through a united effort” he added while answering a query. He also claimed that the issue of NRC should not be politicized and the petition in this regard was filed in private capacity not as a congressman while responding to a separate query.
