Agartala, Jul 07, 2019: A bacterial infection – initially thought of Diphtheria following the symptoms – is posing challenge before the Tripura health department while entire health sector is busy in eradicating outbreak of malaria in the State.
While doctors were busy in identifying malaria patients, more than 10 patients including children from tribal areas were admitted with Diphtheria like symptoms Since last week. These patients are now undergoing treatment in Agartala IGM Hospital and recovering.
Talking about the disease, doctors of IGM Hospital said, patients had problems of nasal discharge, sore throat and hoarseness, high fever and cold. Symptoms wise initially it was thought that patients were suffering from Diphtheria, however blood test revealed that patients were suffering from some sort of bacterial infection. Doctors also said, there is nothing to be worried about.
