Agartala, January 30, 2019: Protests against the contentious #CitizenshipAmendmentBill (CAB) 2016 continued in Khumulwng, TTAADC headquarters in West Tripura District, with black flags and slogans today.
Thousands of activists of INPT, IPFT Tipraha, NCT and Congress ST cell waved black flags and held a massive rally in Khumulwng followed by demonstration. Demanding withdrawal of the Bill, leaders of INPT, IPFT Tipraha, NCT and Congress- Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhwal, Jagadish Debbarma, Rajeswar Debbarma, Animesh Debbarma and Pradyut Kishore Debbarman and former ATTF chief Ranjit Debbarma accused the BJP government of doing divisive politics.
Raising slogans and carrying placards, the agitators demanded the resignation of the Revenue Minister and IPFT chief NC Debbarma alleging that the controversial Bill would endanger the very existence of the indigenous people. “If the Bill is passed, it would lead to the total alienation of the indigenous people”, said Pradyut Kishore Debbarman. Both INPT and NCT leaders threatened to launch a nonstop agitation if the Citizenship Amendment Bill was not withdrawn.
