Agartala, February 05, 2019: Even as the State Government has accorded the highest priority on road connectivity, several tribal areas under Ampi in Gomati district in Tripura are suffering due to pitiable road conditions. Plight of the inhabitants of several tribal hamlets under Ampi turn miserable during rainy season as most of the main roads become risky for travelling – school students and relatives of patients are the worst sufferers. “The road is risky even for pedestrians and for vehicles – it is serious challenge to ply through the stretch and safety of drivers and passengers are at risk”, said one Adhanya Jamatia of Khajur Para.
Fed up with urging concerned PWD officials, resentment among inhabitants of Tentui Bari, Khajur Para, Dulung Bari and Yakhrai is palpable. The villagers are strongly demanding immediate repair of a road connecting Tentu Bari and Dulung Bari.
Local sources alleged, the road from Tentui Bari to Dulung Bari caved in about 2 years ago but concerned authority did not take any initiative to repair the road.
During previous flood and rainy season, the stretch was further damaged making it risky for pedestrians and vehicles. Sources said, it is expected that in coming rainy season the larger portion of road will be damaged leaving the villagers in serious challenging situation.
Adhanya Jamatia, Upasadhan Jamatia of Dulung Bari and Mausam Jamatia, Sricharan Jamatia of Khajur Para said, “We are facing dangerous situation and it is risky to use this road at night.
All the vehicles passing through this patch of the road keeping fingers crossed as a little mistake may cause serious accident and vehicle may fall into gorge. Serious mishap may occur anytime here.”
Local people demanded, concerned PWD officials should inspect the spot and immediately take initiative to repair the road for the sake of safety of inhabitants.
