October 04, 2018: Petrol, diesel to be cheaper by Rs 5/litre in Tripura. Following Central Government’s Announcement to reduce the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs. 2.5/litre, Tripura Government also reduced the duties by Rs 2.5 per litre on fuel prices.
Petrol Prices in the state of Tripura shall be reduced by Rs.5 /litre as part of its pro-people decision taken today by the Central Government and accordingly, the State Government of Tripura has reduced the duties on the fuel prices. Already one of the lowest fuel prices in the country, the fuel prices in Tripura shall be further reduced by Rs.5/litre after this announcement with effect from midnight i.e. 5th October, 2018.
Union Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley during the day announced that the Central Government will cut Rs 1.50 in excise duty on fuel while an additional Re 1 will be absorbed by the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs). Thereby, this shall lead to a reduction in the oil prices by Rs. 2.5/litre.
The Finance Minister also urged the state governments to cut the VAT on fuel by an equal amount. Under the leadership of the Chief Minister of Tripura, Biplab Kumar Deb, a prompt and positive decision was taken in this regard by the State Cabinet to reduce the state taxes on petrol and diesel by Rs. 2.5/ litre.
