August 15, 2018: While all eyes were focused on I-day celebrations in Agartala, two sleepy villages under Sepahijala district observed the day differently. Away from clicking cameras and city noises, a village under Charilam and a Pushpabari under Bisramganj Bazar area celebrated the I-Day in a grand manner amidst overwhelming enthusiasm. In both the places, BJP national Secretary and Tripura In-Charge Sunil Deodhar hoisted national flags and inspired the villagers.

At a village in Charilam consisting of only 200 families, Deodhar hoisted the National Flag. Enthusiastic villagers gathered around and cheered as Deodhar unfurled the Flag. Under blazing sun – surrounded by tin-roofed houses and perfect rural ambiance, tri-colour flag was flying with patriotic fervor. Several houses of the Village was decorated with paintings and people celebrated the spirit of freedom and patriotism.

Sunil Deodhar also took part in flag hoisting programme at Pushpabari under Bishramganj. During the flag hoisting, Deodhar was accompanied by Swapan Debbarma – who helped to avert a major train mishap near Ambassa in Dhalai district and saved life of almost 2000 rail passengers. Though the celebrations were humble, however, presence of Sunil Deodhar among villagers infused marked enthusiasm and of course, Swapan Debbarma was an added attraction.
