August 23, 2018: Thousands of people – both men and women – joined a Padayatra led by the Chief Minister Biplab Deb with the urn of ashes of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today in Agartala. On a hot and humid day, the Biplab Deb, Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Social welfare Minister Swantana Chakma, Agriculture Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Sports Minister Manoj Kanti Deb, BJP leader Ramapada Jamatia and other leaders walked along with thousands of Party supporters and common persons in a Padayatra from Circuit House to BJP Party Office in Agartala.
Earlier, State BJP general secretary Pratima Bhowmik arrived at Agartala Airport from Delhi with the urn of ashes – Asthi Kalash today morning. Biplab Deb received the Asthi Kalash from Bhowmik amid ‘Atalji Amar Rahe’ chanting.
As the Padayatra passed through Bus terminus, market and residential areas, people gathered roadside and paid tributes to departed leader. After Biplab Deb placed urns at BJP Party Office, people paid floral tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Asthi Kalash will be sent to all eight districts of the State so that people can pay homage. Meanwhile, BJP held condolence meetings in all the 60 seats on Wednesday (August 22) and paid homage to departed leader.
