September 23, 2018: Based on secret information, Police recovered firearms in Sabroom under South Tripura district and arrested three persons. Aources said, SDPO of Sabroom, Sabyasachi Debnath launched search operation in a Maruti car (01 A 0470) and found two modern and country made pistols, seven round bullets and two megazines. Also, Police seized some ‘important’ document, although Police did not divulge any details about seized document.
Speaking to media, SP of South district Jal Singh Meena, IPS said, firearms were purchased from Bhagalpur area of Bihar, however there are several firearms factories in West Bengal also. Meena further said, “Arrested persons arrived at Agartala in Tripurasundari Express from Bhagalpur on Friday last and it is likely that arrested persons came to Sabroom after holding talks with smugglers. The arrested persons were booked under Arms Act”.
Sources said, arrested persons were identified as Dipankar Sen of Bishalgarh, Samrat Sen of Saekerkot and a local auto driver Rouinga Mog (35) who believed to be co-operating Sen duo. Preliminary information indicates that arrested persons came to Sabroom to sell the firearms to local smugglers.
