December 02, 2018: A team of Commission of Railway Safety (CRS) expressed satisfaction after inspecting rail track from Santirbazar to Belonia today. Addressing a press meet in Agartala today Commissioner of the CRS Shaliesh Kumar Pathak said this. He also said, Agartala-Akhaura rail track will be completed within next two years. “Trains from Bangladesh will arrive in Tripura and later train from Agartala will leave for Bangladesh”, Pathak said.
Outlining future course of actions, Pathak said, diesel engines will be replaced by electric engines in all the trains in next five years. Also, all the capitals of NE States will be connected through rail networks, he asserted.
Team of commission of railway safety (CRS) led by its commissioner Shailesh Kumar Pathak visited Belonia railway station today. The safety commission team arrived to inspect the newly laid 9.83 km rail track from Santir Bazaar to Belonia.
Pathak said the team is satisfied after inspection of the track but there are some minor faults found which are not serious one and will be resolved soon. He said, the inspection report will be submitted to the Railway Ministry and they will decide when to start the passenger train.

Local MLA Arun Bhowmik was present during visit CRS team. He termed it as a historical day for people of South Tripura.
Meanwhile, sources in railway informed that laying of rail track to Sabroom is complete. Only works of tunnel are in progress. He expressed hope that ongoing work on the new railway station at Sabroom will be completed by 2019.
A running room, barrack for security personnel, waiting rooms, officers quarters and staff quarters would be completed within the next six months in the station premises. Besides, a parking zone over 300 square meters of land will also come up close to the railway station.
Sources in the NFR said that Sabroom would be the second biggest railway station in Tripura as it would function as gateway to northeast from Chittagong town and port of Bangladesh. The distance between Agartala railway station and Sabroom is 114 kms.
