Agartala, October 28, 2019: In the much talked about PWD scam, another accused, ex-Chief secretary YP Singh managed to evade police dragnet till now. According to police sources, the team of crime branch officers which left for Delhi earlier this week failed to track Singh, so far.
“The team is doing its levels best. It has also coordinated with the Delhi police to trace Singh. Operations are being carried out but we are still trace him” said a highly placed source in the Crime Branch adding that soon he would be arrested as scanning of cell phone records and other necessary options were on.
On the related note, former PWD chief engineer Sunil Bhowmik, another accused in the same case, was produced before the magistrate Court today. The magistrate Court sent him for three day police custody and hearing on the petition of police remand would be heard on October 30 next.
Special Public Prosecutor of the case, Ratan Datta said, since Court holidays are on, the case is heard in the magistrate court today. Sunil Bhowmik, who is one of the prime accused, was produced before the Court today after he was released from the GBP hospital. He was sent for three day jail custody and the proceedings on the petition of his police remand will be heard on October 30, once the special court resumes its hearing, Datta added.
Regarding ex-PWD minister Badal Chowdhury, health reports of Chowdhury are being produced before the Court every day, he told media.
“As far as his health conditions are concerned he is stable and fit to partake in the Court proceedings. As the hospital authorities have yet not released him, the police have no authority to take over. Once he is given clearance from the hospital he will be produced in the court”, Datta informed media adding that already a police remand petition against Chowdhury was pending in the Court and arguments on the case would be initiated after his production.
