Agartala, October 29, 2019: Even as the Northeastern (NE) states possess immense potentiality for thriving tourism and small scale cottage industries, but lack of modern marketing tactics and skills are the biggest impediments that the entrepreneurs of this region are facing now. In today’s market-based economy, entrepreneurial skills need to be perfectly blended with smart marketing skills, said Ajoy Bandyopadhyay director of MSME-Development Institute Kolkata today in a seminar in Agartala.
He said, a mega international trade fair will be conducted at Kolkata in which entrepreneurs from Tripura and other NE States will participate and harness essential skills of MSME entrepreneurs.
Referring to quality of products, Bandyopadhyay also said that the MSME incubation centre Kolkata would directly assist in standardizing the products of local enterprises Tripura and other NE States.
In a brief interaction in the sidelines of the seminar, Bandyopadhyay said, the North East has all the potential to rule the markets of hand loom, handicrafts, rubber and bamboo etc. And of course, tourism can also turn out to be a game changer industry for North East.
“What we need to work upon is the marketing skills of the local entrepreneurs. Thus, an initiative has been planned to select at least 10 to 15 local entrepreneurs of North Eastern states and accommodate them in the mega trade fair in Kolkata which is slated to be held January next year”, he said and added, “The products will be given new standardized version with the experts of incubation centre. The z-certification—zero defect, zero affect module of production will be pressed into action as per the NITI Ayog guidelines” said Bandyopadhyay.
He also expressed his willingness to accommodate at least 5 to 6 enterprises which are working on the field eco-tourism as there was a huge prospect in this field.
“I am hopeful of clubbing the tourism sector of North East with rest of the India so that people descending to this land in search of raw India and indigenous culture can explore this part of the land too” he asserted.
