Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis carried the dominance of 2015 into the new season, winning their sixth consecutive title by lifting the WTA Brisbane trophy in Brisbane on Saturday. The top seeds quelled the challenge of German wildcards Angelique Kerber and Andrea Petkovic 7-5 6-1 in mere 69 minutes.
The Indo-Swiss duo, who had won seven doubles titles and two grand slam titles in 2015, carried their wonderful form into 2016 with a clinical performance. After a tough fight in the first set which they won 7-5, Sania and Martina were thoroughly dominant in the second set to sweep the set 6-1 and add yet another trophy in their cabinet. Sania-Martina has won 26 consecutive matches and this is their sixth consecutive title. They are on course to beat the record of 28 consecutive wins in doubles set by Gigi Fernandez and Natasha Zvereva in 1994.
