In Tripura, a suspected Jamaat-ul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) terrorist, who confessed to having been involved in the Burdwan blast in West Bengal, was arrested from Sepahijala district. Police sources confirmed today.
Superintendent of Police, Sepahijala Mr. Pradip Dey told AIR this morning that the terrorist Jahangir Hussain aged 32 years was arrested from Jatrapur, about 50 kms. from Agartala, bordering Bangladesh following a search operation by the State intelligence wing.
During preliminary investigation, Hussain admitted that he is a citizen of Chittagong in Bangladesh and was involved with the Burdwan blast, he added. Hussain was produced before the court of Sonamura sub-divisional judicial magistrate and remanded to seven days police custody in Jatrapur Police Station. After the Burdwan blast, Hussain reached Tripura and stayed at a rented house in K. K. Nagar village near a BSF Border Outpost (BOP). He married the daughter of the houseowner there and was staying for about last one year, the police sources informed.
