Dharmanagar (Tripura), July 4, 2025: In a vibrant celebration of unity and cultural pride, ‘Thansa Divas’ was observed on Friday at the Noagang Bazar Shed in North Tripura. The event was held commemorating the 47th birthday of Tipra Motha Party supremo Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma.
The event, aimed at strengthening community bonds and fostering cultural consciousness among the indigenous population, witnessed enthusiastic participation from various tribal organizations. A key highlight of the occasion was a youth-focused initiative led by the Youth Tipra Federation (North District), which distributed football jerseys, gloves, and footballs to seven village councils. The move, organizers said, was part of a broader effort to encourage sportsmanship among tribal youth, discourage substance abuse, and cultivate a culture of healthy living.
In an effort to further boost youth participation in sports, plans were also announced for a sub-zonal football tournament to be held in the near future. The tournament will be free for all participants and will include prize money and attractive awards. A state minister is expected to grace the event, adding to its significance.
Prominent figures present at the ‘Thansa Divas’ celebrations included Youth Tipra Federation District president Khokan Tripura, well-known social worker Jaychung Ranglong, Damchhara Sub-Zone Chairman Tasiram Reang, Noagang Sub-Zone Chairman Mukamlal Halam, and Youth Tipra Federation Central Committee member Sandhyamali Debbarma.
The event was jointly organized by the Youth Tipra Federation, Tipra Women Federation, Indigenous Students Federation, Tipra Motha Minority Cell, and Tipra Citizens Federation — reflecting a united front of various indigenous bodies dedicated to community empowerment and cultural preservation.

It may be noted, the Tipra Motha Party (TMP), led by Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, is a key ally of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura.
