The VHP has demanded amendment of the Foreign Citizen Act so that death sentence to illegal infiltrators from Bangladesh can be awarded and also to check infiltration and deport them. Advocating for harsh Act like ‘death sentence’, he demanded that Union should put pressure on Bangla Govt in checking illegal migrants, particularly muslim migrants. Addressing a press conference in Agartala , VHP President Pravin Togadia said it has adopted a resolution to take time-bound action plan against illegal infiltrators from Bangladesh and immediately deport them from the country. He expressed his dissatisfaction over role of the State Govts as well as Modi-led Union Govt in handling issue of illegally migrated muslim Bangladeshis. He also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should undertake time bound action to deport the illegally migrated Bangladeshis.
Meanwhile, BJP has alleged that the Assam government is misleading the people of Assam in Centre’s fund allocation.Talking to news men in Guwahati on Jan 27 , BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma refuted the allegation of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi that the Centre has curtailed funds in central schemes.He said that the Centre is providing 100 percent fund to Assam in 30 central schemes.
In Assam, former Chief Minister and Asom Gana Parishad leader P K Mahanta said that Asom Gana Parishad has not taken any decision to ally with any national parties as of now. Talking to newsmen at Nalbari yesterday , Mr. Mahanta the party is in talks with small regional parties for an alliance ahead of the upcoming assembly polls. He hoped that Asom Gana Parishad will play an important role in assembly election.
