Agartala, July 30, 2019: Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for having passed the Triple Talaq Bill in the Parliament today.
“This Bill will relieve the muslim women from age-old injustice and humiliation. It is one of the most historic decisions of Government of India after Independence”, Deb said.
He added, so long, previous governments somehow failed to grasp the agonies and pains of the muslim women who were subjected to such an ‘inhuman’ practice.
In the garb of ‘religious sanction’, the Chief Minister pointed out that many muslim countries had already banned Triple Talaq. But, here in India, minorities were always used as vote bank by some political parties and they conspicuously kept a blind eye to the age-old problem, Deb added.
