July 22, 2018: Even as the security personnel have tightened the noose on ganja traders, unscrupulous smugglers seem to be equally desperate to carry out their activities.
The smugglers today made a daring attempt to deliver ganja packets through Dubai-bound Pineapple consignments.
The incident came to light when the security personnel seized Kolkata-bound ganja consignments from the batch of Dubai-bound pineapple at Agartala airport this morning. During security checking, several packets of cannabis were found hidden in the Dubai-bound pineapple consignments which were being dispatched through an Indigo flight. Sources said, around 200 kg ganja was seized.
Naturally, question arises as to how the smugglers managed to place the packets of marijuana inside the pineapple consignments. According to police, names of Dipankar Das, resident of Barjala (near Agartala in Tripura), and Rakesh Sharma of Kolkata was found on the packets ganja of as sender and recipient respectively.
