Agartala, September 16, 2019: In one of the important steps for ushering in a new era in healthcare services, Atal Bihari Regional Cancer Center was inaugurated by Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb in Agartala today. This state of the art Regional Cancer Center (RCC) will be one of topmost cancer treatment center.
The RCC is expected to make a huge difference in Tripura, at least, where as many as 2500 persons are being identified as cancer patient every year – and 1200 patients receive Radiotherapy. After inaugurating the upgraded eight-storied Hospital, the Chief Minister visited Pet-CT, CT-Scan, MRI, Operation Theatre, OPD and other sections.
He also interacted with in-house patients and distributed sweets among them. Total Rs 107 crore 72 lakh were spent. Notably, in this new facility, treatments in seven categories – Radiation Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Medical Oncology, Palliative Care, Laboratory Services, Imaging Services and Preventive Oncology – will be available.
Speaking on the occasion, Biplab Kumar Deb said, the State Government is working to take Tripura to peak of excellence as per the path advocated by the Prime Minister and we have to make forward march by providing care and services to people.
Among others, MP Pratima Bhoumik was also present in the inaugural programme. In her speech, Bhoumik said, the Atal Bihari RCC will usher in ray of hopes for cancer patients of Tripura and other NE states. She also hailed ‘Ayushman Tripura’ which was launched by the Chief Minister recently and added, 84,000 families belonging to weaker sections will be benefited under the scheme.
