January 18, 2018: The Election Commission of India has today announced that Assembly polls in Tripura will be conducted on February 18, 2018. Counting of votes will take place on March 3, 2018. Notification for polls will be issued on January 24. With the announcement of Poll date, Model Code of Conduct has come into effect.
It is learnt that VVPAT will be used with EVMs in every booth. As per available information, Gazette notification will be issued on January 24. Last date of nomination filing is January 31 while scrutiny of nominations will be done February 1. Last date of nomination withdrawal is February 3. Election process shall be completed on March 5.
Number of polling booths has increased to 3214 in 2018 compared to 3041 in 2013 registering a 5.69 per cent growth. Total number of electorates as per final electoral roll is 25,69,216.
