May 13, 2018: The Tripura Bar Association today registered a tough contest between the lawyers of BJP and Left panels.
According to the final results announced by the Returning Officer Sandip Datta Chowdhury, the BJP panel has won altogether nine out of 15 posts while the Left panel secured victory in six positions including the post of secretary.
The polling started at 8 am and continued till 2 pm while the counting of votes started after lunch break. Altogether 39 candidates contested the polls to 15-member Tripura Bar Association.
Dipak Kumar Biswas and Jiban Krishna Sen of BJP panel have been elected as President and Vice President respectively with 158 and 161 votes.
Bhaskar Debbarma of the Left panel has got 161 votes and he has been re-elected as secretary (key post) of the Tripura Bar Association.
Ashis Bhadra of BJP panel and Kaushik Indu of Left panel have been elected as Assistant Secretary with 156 and 137 votes respectively.
The candidates of BJP panel who secured win for the post of members are Amit Debbarma (156 votes), Animesh Bhowmik (161 votes), Chaitali Bhattacharjee (154 votes), Pradip Sutradhar (140 votes), Satyabrata Ghosh (148 votes) and Dipaxi Debnath (137 votes).
The elected Left panel candidates are Goutam Banik (137 votes), Diptanu Debnath (147), Mitali Nandi (159 votes) and Sukanta Paul (140 votes).
Meanwhile Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb congratulated all the elected lawyers of BJP panel.
