December 26, 2017: Tripura BJP today reacted sharply over ‘highly objectionable material involving PMO’ in a CPIM published booklet and demanded appropriate actions against CPIM Politburo member Brinda Karat as well as publisher of the booklet. Speaking to media persons today in Agartala, BJP State president Biplab Deb said, the 40-page booklet, titled “Tripura Model: People ahead of all” contains unparliamentary texts. He alleged, “In the page no-4 of the booklet, it has been mentioned that the Prime Minister’s Office had direct link with extremist outfits. According to the book, the role of BJP and RSS is felonious.”
“The allegation leveled against the PMO is baseless. There is no proof to establish the allegation. Such remarks are against nationalism,” he said.
The booklet published in three languages – Bengali, English and Hindi.
Preface of the booklet was written by former MP and CPIM Politburo leader Brinda Karat in which it was mentioned that Prime Ministers’ Office (PMO) was directly involved with secessionist forces.
Biplab Deb said, “We urged the Governor – the constitutional head of the state – to take steps against both the preface writer and the publisher under the framework of the Constitution. We have faith on the Governor to take up the matter seriously”.
He also demanded that the booklet should be banned. He also demanded public apology from Karat and publisher.
