June 19, 2018: In his maiden Budget, the the Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varman who also holds Finance portfolio proposed to impose cess on petro products. The budget outlay for 2018-19 FY has been augmented by around 14 percent compared to last year’s Budget.
“An estimated outlay- Rs. 1000 crore has been provisioned in the budget so that the government could offer 7th CPC to the 2 lakh government employees and pensioners after PP Verma committee submit its report”, the Minister told the House.
In his attempt to create fund for road development, the Finance Minister has proposed to impose cess on petrol, diesel and PNG. He proposed to impose a cess of Rs 1.15 on petrol, Rs 1.13 on diesel and Rs 4.4 per month on PNG.
