As per Vision Document, Smart Phones will be given to 14,608 students of 38 educational institutions in Tripura under Mukhya Mantri Yuba Yogajog Yojana.

Agartala, March 03, 2020: Saffron party in Tripura made a poll promise relating to providing students Smart Phones during last Tripura Assembly Polls. The promise found place in party’s ‘Vision Document’ also. For last two years, several questions were raised pertaining to providing Smart Phones to students. And today – on the day two years ago, BJP brought an end to 25 years of Left Rule in Tripura – BJP-led Government announced that it would launch Mukhya Mantri Yuba Yogajog Yojana under which Smart Phones would be provided to more than 14,000 final year students.
Mukhya Mantri Yuba Yogajog Yojana
Fulfilling the poll promise, the state government has introduced a new scheme to provide smart phones to 14,608 students. The scheme- Mukhya Mantri Yuba Yogajog Yojana was approved by the council of ministers today.
Education minister Ratanlal Nath announced this in a press conference at civil secretariat this evening. Briefing media about today’s cabinet decisions, Nath said, “as many as 14,608 final-year students of 38 educational institutions including 22 Government Degree Colleges will receive Rs. 5000 each in during Financial Year 2020-21 for purchasing Smart Phones.”
Apart from Government Degree colleges, other institutions include Tripura University, Maharaja Bir Bikram University, Agartala Government Medical College, NIT, TIT, Government Law College, Government Music College, RIPSAT and Teachers’ Training College.
“The expenditure of the scheme stands at Rs. 7,30,40,000 for one year. Eligible students will have to apply online for the benefits. After scrutiny of the applications, Rs. 5000 will be deposited directly to the bank accounts of each beneficiary through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT),” he said.
Tripura State Procurement Council
The cabinet also gave approval for formation of The Tripura State Procurement Council, Nath said. “The process for procurement of various items in departments and PSUs gets delayed following the formalities. To save time and bring transparency in the procurement process, the state government decided to constitute the council headed by Chief Secretary (chairman). Secretary to Finance department will function as member secretary,” Nath told the media.
