March 10, 2018: In its first Cabinet meeting, Biplab Deb-led BJP-IPFT Government has taken decision to form an expert committee relating to implementation of 7th CPC recommendations. The council of Ministers also took a decision to rename the Agartala Airport after Late Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur. The State Cabinet also approved a proposal to hand over the slain journalists – Shantanu Bhowmik and Sudip Datta Bhowmik’s murder case to CBI.
As the Model Code of Conduct is still in force in the State for by-poll in Charilam Assembly Constituency, details of 7th CPC implementation have been shared publicly. However, while interacting with media persons today after 1st Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Biplab Deb mentioned about formation of an expert Committee to chalk out details pertaining to 7th CPC. Keeping consistency with BJP’ pre-poll promises, State Cabinet, in its first meeting, focused upon 7th CPC implementation.
Biplab Deb also said that the Cabinet had approved proposal pertaining to handing over investigation of Shantanu Bhowmik and Sudip Datta Bhoumik murder case to CBI which was a long standing demand of several journalists’ bodies.
The Singerbil Airport of Agartala will be renamed after Tripura’s late Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya.
