April 23, 2018: Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has stressed on strengthening the traffic system to curb incidents of road accidents and ensure road safety.
The BJP-led Government in Tripura is working to introduce several traffic management systems to reduce incidences of road mishap – the State Government has directed the PWD to install smart ‘Sign in System’ along the national highways by June next. Also, zebra crossing near schools across the State will be painted to save school students from accidents. The Chief Minister Biplab Deb said this after inaugurating a programme to mark 29th Road Safety Week Agartala today. As part of the programme, the Chief Minister inspected the parade performed by the police personnel.
Stressing on generating awareness about road safety, he said, “Traffic Police, pedestrians and drivers have to work together to ensure road safety. It’s not a job of single person – we all have to work together for making people aware of road safety”.
Charting out Government’s plan for improving traffic system, Deb mentioned about plans to convert all the NH roads into one-way road for reducing chances of accidents. Meanwhile, the state government initiated a plan to transform 16-km road from Airport to Kuri Pukur (near Amtali) into four-lane road, he said.
In a separate programme, the Chief Minister Biplab Deb inaugurated a five-day workshop on Human Computer Interaction at NIT Agartala today. The workshop was organized by Computer Science and Engineering department of NIT Agartala.
In his inaugural speech, Deb focused upon proper utilization of technologies to expedite development rate and efficient Human Resource management.
Suman Deb, programme coordinator of the workshop, said the main objective of this initiative is to discuss the possible ways of applying the technologies across Tripura state.
