Tripura CM Manik Saha inaugurates Rs 580 crore worth of projects across the state, focusing on tribal welfare, infrastructure development, and public health services under PM Modi’s vision.
Khowai (Tripura), June 12: With an eye on boosting infrastructure and ensuring inclusive development across Tripura, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Wednesday inaugurated a slew of development projects worth Rs 580 crore across the state. The initiatives span urban to rural areas, with a strong focus on tribal welfare, healthcare, education, and administrative infrastructure.
The Chief Minister formally inaugurated the newly constructed Baijalbari Police Station and a 50-seat tribal students’ hostel in Padmabil Block. The inauguration ceremony took place at Baijalbari Higher Secondary School ground.
Virtually addressing the event, CM Saha also inaugurated several key infrastructure projects, including:
- Block Public Health Units at Mungiakami and Tulashikhar Primary Health Centres
- Integrated Public Health Laboratory Cubicle Chamber at Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital
- New office building at Teliamura Block
- Additional classrooms at Metharaibari Higher Secondary School
- New office building at the District Panchayat Resource Centre in Dhalabil, Khowai Block
These projects, constructed at a cost of Rs 8 crore, are part of the state government’s broader mission to ensure accessible public services and strengthen administrative delivery mechanisms.

Following the inauguration, the Chief Minister participated in a tree plantation drive at the premises of the Baijalbari students’ hostel, symbolizing the government’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
The event was graced by Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma, MLA Ranjit Debbarma, Director General of Police Anurag, Khowai District Magistrate Rajat Pant, and other senior officials.
Emphasis on Harmony and Development
Addressing the gathering, Dr Manik Saha highlighted Tripura’s rich cultural diversity and communal harmony, stating that unity among communities is the foundation for accelerated development. He acknowledged the visionary leadership and encouragement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in implementing impactful development projects across the state.
“Under the guidance of the Prime Minister, Tripura is witnessing holistic growth. To empower citizens, over 54,000 self-help groups have been formed, and 91,000 women have become ‘Lakhpati Didis’ through income-generating activities,” the Chief Minister said.
Government’s Commitment to Welfare
The state government has prioritized drinking water supply, housing, sanitation, health, and education. Through the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, every family is entitled to free medical treatment up to Rs 5 lakh. In addition, the Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana has been introduced to further expand healthcare benefits.
To boost economic resilience, schemes such as the Mukhyamantri Pashudhan Yojana (Animal Husbandry), Mukhyamantri Matsya Vikash Yojana (Fishery Development), and Mukhyamantri Nagar Unnayan Prakalpa (Urban Development) are being actively implemented.
Special Focus on Tribal Development
Reaffirming his government’s commitment to tribal welfare, CM Saha announced that ₹1,400 crore has been earmarked for improving the quality of life in tribal communities. Projects include construction of Anganwadi centres for children, hostels for students, and marketing hubs to promote trade.

Additionally, in the last financial year, the ADC (Autonomous District Council) received an extra allocation of ₹169.82 crore to support its development goals.
“We are focused on harnessing Tripura’s natural resources—agarwood, rubber, natural gas, and agriculture—to improve the socio-economic status of the people. I urge all citizens to come forward and contribute to the state’s development journey,” said CM Saha.
Development Gaining Momentum
Speaking on the occasion, Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma praised the pace of development under the current administration and called upon all sections of society to support and sustain the growth trajectory.
The event concluded with speeches by MLA Ranjit Debbarma, District Magistrate Rajat Pant, and others. The programme was presided over by Khowai Zilla Parishad Chairperson Aparna Singh Roy (Dutta).
