April 07, 2018: Tripura has got today another first of its kind in North East – the Centrally Sponsored State Managed (CSSM) Component of Pradhan Mantri Kausahl Vikas Yojna (PMKVY) 2.0. In a programme, Chief Minister Biplab Deb today inaugurated the Yojna at Pragna Bhawan in Agartala. The PMKVY is a flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE). The objective of this Skill Certification Scheme is to enable a large number of Indian youth to take up industry-relevant skill training that will help them in securing a better livelihood. In the inaugural programme, Chief Secretary of the State Government Sanjeev Ranjan and principal secretary of Industries and Commerce M Nagaraju were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister hailed implementation of North Eastern Region’s first CSSM Component of PMKVY. Infusing confidence and positive thoughts among the youths, he said, the skill development will act as capacity building and need based skills will create job opportunities for all sections of the society.
“Huge population of the country is actually an advantage for the nationa, as 54 per cent of population is young. But despite youthful exuberance, lack of skill is preventing them from availing job opportunities”, he said. Explaining objectives of PMKVY, Biplab Deb said, creating skilled work force is the prime focus of PM Narendra Modi and the PMKVY was formulated for capacity building of the youth.
He exuded confidence that skill training will allow youths of Tripura to grab job opportunities and in near future, big companies will hire people from the State. “We have talented youths – what is needed at this time is to make them professionally skillful and more productive. Apart from creating job opportunities, skill training will help youths to run sustainable business venture.
Citing examples of small but developed countries like Israel, Japan, Deb said, what makes these countries stand apart is their highly skilled workforce. Skill is essential for development, he asserted. He said, State Government has decided to scale up the skill development training and stride forward in growth path.
