December 31, 2017: Sending a strong ‘Red’ message to opposition, LF today held a ‘historic’ rally at Swami Vivekananda Ground in Agartala. Conservative estimates reveal that around 45 thousand – which is undoubtedly the largest turn out in Tripura – while a large number of uncounted supporters, unable to find place in and around the ground, were seen waiting.
Addressing the mammoth gathering after CPI All India Secretary D Raja and CPIM All India Secretary Sitaram Yechury, Politburo member cum CM Manik Sarkar urged people for formation of eighth Left Front government with more votes and more seats.
Sarkar said, “Though, the RSS and BJP along with IPFT are hatching conspiracies, the people of state, I believe, are ready to give a befitting reply in the ensuing assembly elections.
He slammed the Modi-led government on various issues. “The Central government is creating an ‘economic blockade’ against the state government.
Launching an attack on saffron party, he said, “The BJP has been backing a tribal based party to divide Tripura. Earlier the militants had been demanding for a sovereign Tripura and created havoc by organizing violent activities for few decades.
But, the people of state, finally, established the hard-earned peace. However, The BJP and its allies are again trying to create unrest across the state ahead of polls. People should be aware of such attempts.”
“The so-called Gujarat model has failed in Gujarat itself. It was the beginning of BJP’s downfall,” Sarkar added.
