Agartala, July 26, 2019: Valour and sacrifice of Indian army will inspire all in protecting the Nation. I Salute our Brave heart Soldiers who had sacrificed their lives protecting the sanctity of our Nation. Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said this after paying his tributes to the Kargil War martyrs at the Albert Ekka Memorial in Agartala.
Deb after laying a wreath at the martyrs’ memorial on 20th Kargil Vijay Diwas said, “thousands of Army soldiers and other paramilitary forces sacrificed their lives to protect our motherland.”
“Indian Army is pride of our Nation. I Salute our lionhearted soldiers who had sacrificed their lives protecting the sanctity of our Nation,” the Chief Minister said in his social media handler.
Meanwhile, West Tripura district administration in collaboration with Assam Rifles, Border Security Force (BSF), CRPF and Education department organized another programme at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan to pay tributes to the soldiers, who made supreme sacrifices during the Kargil War of 1999. In the programme, an hour-long short film on the Kargil War was screened.
Apart from this, Indian Army’s Colonel Anand Sehgal from New Delhi, in an online message, called upon the students to work for the country selflessly.
“Country is our motherland and it is duty of every citizen to protect the motherland,” he said. District Magistrate, West Tripura – Sandeep N. Mahatme delivered the welcome address.
On the other hand, the Border Security Force (BSF) is conducting a series of events to commemorate the valour and sacrifice of the Indian Army during the Kargil war.
A BSF release said that the Chief Minister would flag-off the “Run for Martyrs (mini marathon) here on Saturday. BSF official Arun Kumar Verma said, “at least 2,000 people from various para-military forces and civilians will take part in the “Run for Martyrs.”
The BSF release said that during the week-long celebrations since July 20, banners were displayed with photographs and brief details of the Kargil war heroes at all prominent places and locations.
Various other programmes were also held including screening of movies and documentaries on the Kargil war at selected town halls, Panchayat Bhavans and community halls.
“Blood donation and medical camps are being organised by BSF in hospitals. Drawing, painting, debates, patriotic song competitions are also being organised for students. Families of the martyrs and gallantry awardees from all uniformed forces residing in bordering areas are being felicitated,” the release added.
