Agartala, August 30, 2019: Tripura Unakoti district Congress has announced 24-hour strike in the district on September 5 in support of 7-point demand list including arrests of culprits involved in ransacking Unakoti district Congress Party Office on August 28 last. Addressing a press conference, former state president of the Party, Birjit Sinha announced this today in Kailashahar under Unakoti district.
“We will organize a historic protest rally on September 4 in Kailashahar in support of the Bandh on the next day”, Sinha said.
Scaling up ante against ruling BJP, Sinha said, “BJP failed to make Kailashahar a Congress-free area in recent Panchayat Polls – Congress has gained strength and will expose BJP”. Sinha held BJP responsible for attacking District Congress Office on August 28 and polluting ambience in educational institutions in Kailashahar. He also alleged, law and order condition in the State has collapsed – there is spike in murder, rape and other criminal acts.
Announcing 24-hour Bandh on September 5, Sinha focused on 7-point charter of demands. He said, “We are demanding stern actions against culprits involved in vandalizing Congress Office. Also, in view of present condition, we are demanding immediate restoration of normalcy in educational institutes and Colleges”. He also mentioned about ‘large-scale’ corruption in distribution of relief materials to flood victims.
