January 16, 2018: State unit CPIM today expressed deep concern over reported presence of NSA Ajit Doval in a meeting between Rajnath Singh and RSS over issues relating to Assembly Polls in Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland. Addressing a press conference today in Agartala, CPIM State secreatary Bijan Dhar said, Tripura unit of CPM today wrote a letter to the Election Commission of India (ECI) and urged for conducting a thorough investigation and action over the reports of NSA Ajit Doval’s presence in the meeting.
He termed Doval’s involvement in a BJP-RSS meet at Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s house as “blatant misuse of administration by the ruling party at the Centre for garnering political mileage in the elections”.
Saying that the full ECI team while visiting the State earlier announced that polls would be conducted in scheduled time, he said, he is not expecting any move by ECI to defer the Assembly Poll.
The specter of deferred poll is arising because of BJP’s persistent claims about existence of large number of fake voters in electoral rolls. The State Election department has also undertaken task to identify fake voters in the rolls. Despite pressure from BJP, Bijan Dhar has reiterated his faith at ECI.
