December 23, 2017: Review of prevailing pre-poll situation clearly indicated that CPIM would do better in 2018 Polls compared to 2013 Assembly elections – the reason is that LF Government had put emphasis on empowering common people, especially womenfolk and economically backward sections of the society. In a press conference, CPIM State president Goutam Das said this today in Agartala. He also highlighted at ‘Tripura Model’ where interests of people get priority.
“Assessing pre-poll ground realities, the State Committee found that LF would storm back to power with increased number of seats and vote share”, he asserted. He also said, LF will formally launch poll campaign by organizing a ‘historic’ rally on December 31 in Swami Vivekananda Maidan in Agartala. Claiming that the rally will be the largest one in the history of Tripura, Goutam Das said, CPIM general secretary Sitaram Yechury, member of Party’s Central Committee D Raja, Politburo member cum Tripura CM Manik Sarkar, All India leaders of RSP, Forward Bloc and other leaders will address the gathering.
Hitting hard at Modi-led Government’s pre-poll promises, he said, LF Government is showing the country effectiveness alternative policies which put emphasis on empowering common people. He alleged, Modi-led Government is working at the behest of big corporate houses and exploiting the common people.
However, LF Govt in the State focused on ‘Tripura Model’ where stress was laid on improving socio-economic conditions of rural and poor people. He said, despite economic hurdles created by the Modi Govt, the LF Government remained committed to development of rural areas.
In Tripura, people voted CPIM in three-tier Panchayats after critically judging the performance of LF Government. The alternative governance of LF Govt stresses most on progress of common people, he said and asserted that overwhelming support of common people would ensure victory of Left Front in ensuing polls.
