March 02, 2018: The Minister of Co-operative department of Tripura Government, Khagendra Jamatia passed away today in AIIMS, New Delhi. Sources said, Jamatia who was contesting the State Assembly Polls from Krishnapur AC in Teliamura, died today in the early morning. During Poll campaign, Jamatia fell ill and was undergoing treatment at GB Hospital in Agartala.
Later, after election was over on February 18, he was shifted to AIIMS in New Delhi. During his stay at GB Hospital, State BJP president Biplab Deb met him and suggested treatment at AIIMS.
Death tragedy had started haunting the Left Parties immediately after announcement of elections in January. The death rally started with sudden demise of Tripura LF Convenor Khagen Das in Kolkata. He suffered cardiac arrest after Central Committee meeting of CPIM in Kolkata. After death of Das, CPIM candidate from Charilam AC, Ramendra Narayan Debbarma died from similar ailment. And one day prior to counting of polls, Khagendra Jamatia died after suffering from several ailments including jaundice.
