March 22, 2018: The extended meeting of the CPIM State Committee was held in Agartala and finalized delegates for upcoming Party Congress in Hyderabad. Addressing a press conference, CPIM State Committee secretary Bijan Dhar said that 45 delegates would attend the Party Congress and three other members would attend the Party Congress as ‘Audience’. The Party Congress will be held April 18-22, 2018 at Hyderabad.
Speaking to media, Bijan Dhar highlighted several instances of violence against CPIM activists and vandalism in Party Offices across the State, Bijan Dhar urged to restore normalcy and establish ‘rule of law’ at the earliest. He alleged, “Hundreds of CPIM supporters had fled from their houses, many activists had been injured – some of them are still undergoing treatment in GB Hospital – and Party Offices especially CITU offices were set ablaze”, Dhar said. However, he said, “There is no plan, at this moment, to hold agitation condemning such attacks”. He also blamed BJP-IPFT for ‘collecting donation forcibly’ from people.
