December 14, 2017: All eyes were fixed on the Apex Court today – especially 10323 teachers were anxiously waiting for news comes out from the Supreme Court as hearing of State Government’s plea for extension of termination deadline for 10323 teachers was slated today.
A temporary relief announced after hearing the State Governments plea, the Supreme Court agreed to extend the termination deadline upto June 2018. Notably, as per earlier rulings, services of 10323 teachers were supposed to be terminated after December 31, 2017. However, recently, the State Government moved the Apex Court with a plea to extend the deadline.
The decision of the Supreme Court brought a sight of relief for 10323 teachers who are facing termination. “Even though the relief is only for a short period, six months will provide us much needed breathing space to decide next course of action”, said one of the sacked teachers.
