Agartala, December 15, 2019: It is pity that Tripura is riddled with a dearth of eligible job aspirants, even as Government jobs are available – however, it is not fault of candidates, the shortage of eligible job takers is due to policies of the previous Left Front government that ignored quality education in the State. Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said this today in programme in Agartala today.

“There are Government jobs, but there are only a few takers. Previous Government never took step to provide quality education”, he said. Citing instances of abysmal performances of job seekers, Deb said, “More than one lakh aspirants had applied for the last Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET) but only 1100 could crack it. Job applications were invited for filling 170 vacant posts of Stenographers in the State Secretariat. Around 5000 aspirants had applied for the job but after the test and interview only 50 could qualify for the job.”

The State Education department has taken multi-prone initiative to strengthen the Education sector and harness its potentiality. The Department introduced several reforms for the Education system in the last couple of months aiming to provide quality education, Deb said.

In support of his claim that Government jobs are available in the State, the Chief Minister said, “As many as 2303 persons got government jobs (including 1912 regular) in less than two years of formation of the new government in Tripura. More 6000 jobs are to be given- and Finance department has already given approval”. He also pointed out that this cannot be considered as an important parameter of development.

Reiterating his Government’s stress on achieving growth in multiple sectors including infrastructure, IT, education, health and extending benefits of flagship programme -Ayushman Bharat to 24 lakh people of the State, Biplab Deb said there is a paradigm shift in mental attitude of youths as there is a marked interests in entrepreneurship and self-employment. Underlining State Government initiative to give entrepreneurship the much needed boost, Deb talked about a slew of measures and said, “The Fisheries sector is set to witness a massive change, an amount of Rs. 400 to 500 crore will come in three years another Rs. 300 to 400 crore will come from Milk production (Dairy sector).”
