After Tripura recorded a sudden spike in the Covid 19 cases specifically in the areas where the international border lie, Tripura government has come up with a fresh schedule of night curfews and stricter vigil in certain areas. The prime focus of the reviewed guidelines are to contain the spread of the virus in areas where the cases were doubling in comparatively higher pace.
In a notification undersigned by Tripura’s Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar it has been stated that fresh order for “Night Curfew” will be issued by respective District Magistrates with timings from 9 PM to 5 AM. Within the 2 KM of the indo- Bangladesh border areas, the timings of night curfew will be from 7 PM to 7 AM.
However, The order also underscores that essential activities would be allowed including operation of industrial units in multiple shifts, movement of persons and goods on state and national highways, loading and unloading of goods and travel of persons to their destinations after disembarking from buses, trains and airplanes.
“The Schools, Colleges, educational & coaching institutions, Cinema halls, swimming pools, entertainment parks, theatres, bars, auditoriums, assembly halls and similar places will remain closed till 31st July. Social political sport events/ entertainment/ academic/ cultural/ religious functions and other large congregations will be prohibited. No permission for such gatherings will be given without prior approval of the undersigned”, the notification reads.
Pointing at the social gatherings the new guidelines suggest that marriage related gatherings could not accommodate guests more than 50 and in case of funerals the limit had been seized to 20.
“The rest measures as contained in order of Chairman, NEC on June 29 and order of even no dated 30th June of undersigned will continue. This order is issued in the capacity of the Chairman of the State Executive Committee of Tripura State Disaster Management Authority, in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 22 (2) (h) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and takes immediate effect. All the District Magistrate & Collectors shall strictly enforce the above measures without any dilution. They are at liberty to invoke other legal provisions to enforce the above measures strictly on being so satisfied of necessity”, the order copy reads.
The fresh orders also incorporate provisions penalties to the people if found violating the norms. “Any persons violating these measures will be liable to be proceeded against as per the provisions of Section 51 to 60 of Disaster Management Act, 2005, besides legal section Under Section 188 of I.P.C and other legal provisions as applicable.”
