Agartala, November 24, 2019: After a long lull, security personnel of North Tripura tasted success in anti-ganja drive. In a joint move Police personnel of Churaibari in North Tripura and jawans of 166 Bn BSF seized 880 kg ganja from a Mini truck (HR 63C/0968) and arrested driver of the vehicle – Badal Deb. The truck was on its way to Guwahati. Police sources said, a case under NDPS Act has been registered against the arrested person. Market of value of seized ganja is around Rs 78 lakh.
Local sources said, based on tip-off of BSF intellengence branch, Assistant Commandant of 166 bn BSF Priyabrata Verua along with other BSF officials and alongwith Churaibari Police led by SI Sadhan Majumder stopped the mini truck at Kherengjuri area and recovered 88 packets – each weighting 10 kg – ganja stacked inside the container of the truck. Police seized the ganza packets and arrested the driver Badal Deb (39). He hails from Laxmipur village under Maharani area of Teliamura.
Sources added, the truck was going to Guwahati with the ganja. Police are investigating the case under NDPS Act.
