June 22, 2018: In an attempt to make Tripura an ‘addiction free’ state, security agencies in the State are conducting raids at different parts and seizing ganja and other narcotics. In such a raid, Security agencies today notched up impressive success against Ganja trading in Sonamura under Sepahijala District. Security personnel recovered 900 kg ganja along with packing machineries and a vehicle from Batadola under Sonamura PS today. Also one person was arrested.
It is learnt, market value of seized ganja stands at around Rs 45 lakhs and value of machines stands at Rs two lakh.
Acting on a tip-off, security personnel led by the SP of Sepahijala Dr Kulwanta Singh raided residence of one Sukumar Sarkar at Batadola and recovered ganja from his house while advanced machines used for packaging were found in nearby field, SDPO of Rajdeep Deb said and added that Police also seized one vehicle used for transporting ganja.
