Agartala, September 15, 2019: The State Government is stressing on producing IAS, IPS and other civil services officers and accordingly offering assistance to UPSC aspirants of the State. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said this after inaugurating three-day long Media workshop cum orientation programme at Agartala Press club today.
The Chief Minister said, “Our administration is heavily depended on civil services officers who come from other states as we have – since inception – produced only two IAS officers”.
“If our sons and daughters become IAS or IPS officers, their sense of belongingness and intention to serve would have been intense and they would not be in a hurry to leave the state on deputation”, Deb said.
“Moreover, in spirit and mentally, they would have better grasp of the situation– which is important for faster development of the State”, he added.
Apart from helping the UPSC aspirants, the State Government is offering Civil Services coaching centers to open centers in the State so that aspirants can easily avail required coaching in the State.
Referring to his meeting with visiting MoS of Union Jal Shakti and Social Justice Ratanlal Katharia in Agartala today, Deb said, there is a project for financially assisting ST students for study in foreign countries – however, the scheme remained idle in dark and no one could avail the scheme during previous LF regime – now the Government is looking into it.
On three-day media workshop, the Chief Minister exuded confidence that it would add new dimension and vision in the arena of journalism.
Eminent journalist Shekhar Aiyer, president of the Agartala Press Club and editor of Syandan Patrika Subal Dey, ICA secretary ML Dey, secretary of Agartala Press club Pranab Sarkar were also present in the inauguration session.
