May 24, 2018: The opposition CPIM today once again condemned the demolition drive of the State Government. Led by the former Chief Minister and CPIM Politburo member, Manik Sarkar, a CPIM delegation today visited several areas under Belonia and Sabroom sub-division in South Tripura District. The team toured the areas where Party Offices were raged down by the administration after BJP-led Government in Tripura decided to demolish all Party Offices constructed on Government lands.
After inspecting the demolished sites, Manik Sarkar strongly reacted and condemned the demolition activities. He alleged, the BJP-led government is engaged in demolition without paying attention to burning issues. Manik Sarkar said, “People are not getting social pensions – there are reports of food crisis in rural areas, however the Government is mum over these issues. The ruling coalition is forcibly capturing Panchayats”. He alleged, demolition activities are nothing but misusing power and present situation is reflecting dreaded scenario of 1988.
